USB keyboard and mouse keep cutting out.

Been having an issue for a while now with my mouse and keyboard cutting out.

Happens quite randomly. Some days it does not occur at all.
But most days the mouse and the keyboard just stops responding for a few seconds and then starts working again. Windows plays the usb connecting sound when it returns.

Occasionally they don't start working again and I have to reboot my PC.

I think this has been occurring since last year when I upgraded my keyboard and OS to Windows 8.

I had the latest Windows updates along with system drivers and motherboard bios installed. I also tried turning off usb power save mode. None of which made a difference. I also reinstalled Windows to rule that out. Again it made no difference.

My next step is borrow another USB keyboard and mouse and try them one at a time to see if I can resolve the issue.

Can anyone suggest any solutions or if they have seen this issue before.
Could it be a case of dying motherboard and or power supply.

Keyboard is a Razor Black Widow Ultimate 2013 and the mouse is a Razor Imperator.

my mouse does that sometimes without the usb connecting sound, it's a logitech g700 and i'm on windows 8.1
Having said that my current install is a mess, updates don't work at all and it turns itself off a lot when I cold boot it.

There are two tests you need to do.

    1. try keyboard and mouse into another similar appliance
    2. try other keyboard and mouse in your appliance

Next you can download drivers for laptop .......for instance if your laptop is Acer , go to Acer website and go to support - drivers , and download drivers for keyboard / mouse

Last option is to get your recovery disk and re-install OS
