What are your strategies for dealing with difficult clients?

I'm doing a mix of audit work at the moment, and also Independent Business Reviews for banks who may enforce. It's interesting. The profile of companies are ones that are under very, very severe pressure. They really, really don't want you there at all!

I'm getting it all; intimidation threats; limitation of scope; getting stone walled; poor quality financial information; delayed responses; poor responses; no responses; lost files; asset stripping; transfer pricing to strip value and profits; in your face breaches of loan agreements.

It'd be easier to get blood out of a turnip!

Don't take it personally. You can only report on what you can. Be fair but professional.
