Fire valve

Just finished a call back after a service on an enviromax on Thursday.
Eventually I discovered that the remote acting fire valve had operated without a sign of heat anywhere. I pulled the plunger back up and away she went.

My question; is this a known problem and is it likely to reoccur or is it a symptom if a faulty valve?

Come off it..... It's only a litre and god knows how much alcohol is in it now. Must try it on the cat first. :)

I was servicing/repairing a grant euroflame boiler last sat.The burner flame was cutting out ever min,Then restarted 5 seconds later. The oil pressure flunctuated and then dropped to zero just before the flame went out.
Then 5 seconds later it would restart and continue to run for a min and cut out and start up without going to lockout and keep continuing this cycle.
Eventually i traced the fault to this firevalve http://chfsupplies.com/shop/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=98 ..It turned out the plunger on the firevalve was nearly closed.Has anyone any idea why the burner didnt go to lockout and why did the firevalve close...

Now that you mention it, I thought there was a tiny amount getting through in my case also. Not enough to fire it up properly, but to cause a puff of flame before lockout. I wonder did the deaerator have an almost irresistible draw in it.

On the same issue, I have since wondered if direct sunlight on the phial during testing, eventually caused the valve to trip.

Except in my case the burner didnt go to lockout.I would have thought it should have gone to lockout

In your case it was getting enough oil each time to restart and run for a time before stopping and running through the same cycle again. It seems that during the off and purge period enough oil was getting through to allow this cycle to continue.
