Looking to get rust off a ferguson 20

    im just after buying a ferguson 20 and the engine is great and it has all the tinwork on it but it is a bit rusty im wondering if you lads could tell me any cheap ways to get rid of rust

    sandblasting could be severe depending how weak and tin the metal work is there's is also soda blasting and glass bead blasting which are not so severe they take off paint and seam sealer and dont dig in and pit the metal like sand blasting. there is a lot of ads on donedeal for fellows at it.

    Dependin on how much there is you could sand it by hand with something like P120 grit paper because sandblasting can weaken the tin allright

    120 maybe to rough it off but I'd be more inclined to go higher at maybe 240 grit. It will clog more alright but leaves an easier base to finish off. Don't forget a wire brush. You would be surprised how fast you will clean it down when you just get stuck in.
