Dublin Airport this Sunday morning. How busy?

Does anybody know how busy the airport is likely to be tomorrow morning.

I've a Ryanair flight at 10.45 (ticket says gates close at 10.15). Bus gets there at 9.50 (assuming no delays).

Is this enough time to get through all checks ? I'll only have a shoulder bag with papers in it, no clothes, no washbag or laptop.

    Any advice appreciated.

That is cutting it very close. You may be organised and ready to go but you're relying on too many other people ahead of you to be the same. I personally wouldn't think that's enough time.

Sunday mornings are less busy than weekdays but there's still a lot of people travelling and that means idiots delaying you. :-o

I'd pay the extra fiver and get fast track security.

That sounds too tight time-wise to me

the odds under those circumstances would suggested that you are more likely to miss your flight then not. Forget about purchasing fast track as that won't help if the bus ends up being delayed. Plan to get there earlier.

From arriving on the bus to the point of clearing passenger screening could easily be 20 minutes, and give 10 minutes to get to your gate. That's before any potential delays so you see how problematic it could be. Ryanair are not just going to transfer you to the next flight FOC.

If the bus is delayed at all you're fecked. If the bus is on time you should be ok. I wouldn't be leaving it that tight though.

If the bus is only 'on time' you 'should' be ok ? OP you are still relying on other variables going your way too even if there was any truth to that. It's doable but luck would still need to play a part if you want to keep to that schedule and make your flight. Remember again this is not EI. Ryanair will not just let you get the next one free of charge.

OP I'm guessing this is a provincial bus as opposed to a city journey.

In that case I would be allowing myself 90 minutes check-in/airport processing time + 1 hour extra over the timetabled arrival time to allow for the bus being delayed en route. In other words get a bus that is timetabled to arrive at 08:15 or before.

Many of the intercity buses are timetabled very tightly and can and do get delayed.

If it's a Ryanair flight due to leave at 10.45 then chances are the aircraft will be on its second or 3rd sector of the day at that stage. The absolute earliest boarding will commence will be 10.20. Boarding usually takes up to 10 minutes so if you arrive at the gate at 10.30 you would be fine.

Security at that hour of the morning should be no more than 10 minutes but I would cough up the extra few euro for fast track for peace of mind. The furthest away gate is maximum 15 minutes walk as long as you're not dawdling. Your only problem would be a bus delay.

Thanks for all the replies and tips.

yep, it's a Bus Eireann intercity, they are actually surprisingly punctual going towards Dublin.

After weighing it up, there's a night bus that gets me there around 5 a.m. so I'll take that, car isn't available this time so it's public transport. I've a bit of work to do so it'll help kill the 5 hours wait. Just have to set the alarm for 2 a.m. now !!

Good choice.... I have a 6.20 am flight in the morning myself with FR.. A pain in the ass as I'm not a morning person to say the very least. Aim is to be there for 4.30 get some breakfast and relax for a while. Might even have a pint :p. Airports are stressful enough all the rushing and worrying if you will make connection just isn't worth adding to it all. Enjoy your flight !
