I use two contractors for baling (both supply plastic)

One takes cheque and I just add it into my accounts.

Other wants cash and refuses to give receipt as will have to add vat to the price per bale?

End result I've no receipt ... Only 2 contractors in area

    Any advice

13.5%. You'd be better pay vat and claim expense. If you pay cash it's drawings and you'll pay tax in it. Tell him you will only pay if you get receipt and stop using him, messer

He'll have to add the vat but he'll also have to declare his own income if he gives a receipt. I don't think it's you he's trying to do a favour for somehow.

Pay the vat and get the receipt.
its a nobrainer to pay cash nowadays for something that's a valid expense
