A lot of threads on money.. Would you work more or less if given the choice?

A lot of threads on savings and expenditures recently..

I'm pretty flexible so I'm working a fair bit more.. Thursday evenings and five hours on a Sunday. It's a nice boost but I guess not everyone can do that.

So if you had a choice, would you work more or less each week?

Not in the slightest.. A thread asking people if they'd sacrifice their free time for more money is definitely After Hours.

I work enough and I earn enough. If I could take a small paycut in return for 5 hours less a week, I would happily do so. I love my job, but I'd like to love it for just 30 hours a week :p

I don't get paid for overtime and I already work too much of it so no more work for me.

When I did work a job where I got paid overtime I used to work about 10 extra hours a week for about a year. I was constantly exhausted and had no social life ... Was not worth it.

I work for myself so my hours are mine and can be very flexible, the boss is a great guy I like him...

Some weeks I put in more than 40, some weeks a lot less- its the nature of my job. But always get paid the same.

So I am happy with things they way they are....having said that if I won the lotto I would not be one of those guys turning up for work on a monday morning.

I'd like to finish an hour early on Friday. I don't like working overtime because I pay far too much tax. It's not worth the while.

I work as much hours as I can get, my contract is 2 days per week, but it's pretty busy right now so I'm working between 4 and 5 days a week. :)

Travel expenses are also great, tax free:)

I work 9-5.30, mon to Friday at a job Im pretty damn good at & like doing. Home for lunch 2-3pm daily. Pretty sweet.

However, I'd gladly start at 8 and finish at 6.30 to have an extra day off... and the same wage.

So for me, 'tis MORE hours and LESS days, if you don't mind...

Yep. Not working is boring and it eats away at you.

    Definitely less.
I doubt many people on their death bed say they wished they'd worked more !

I've never understood people who say this. Have you no hobbies? Nothing to do? Because I never have enough hours in the day and if I won the lotto I'd happily never go back.

    Less work, definitely.

I love my work but right now it wouldn't be possible to work more hours than I am cos I do actually need to sleep.

I only started a few months ago and I'm still settling in but when it calms down and I have a better handle on the work I'll definitely work less hours.

At the moment I work anything from 6-24hrs extra on top of my 39hrs a week. I don't have kids and only live 20mins from work. Another person at work does the same with 2 kids at home and a 1hr commute, not sure I could in that situation.

Currently doing 40 hours per week and every second Saturday. Then 5 nights a week aswel.

So yes, I'd rather do less work.

Im back at college to reskill for a new profession, current job is great money but crap hours, new job (few years away yet) will be crap money ( 50%+ cut in pay) but better hours, less stress and hopefully more time with kid(s).

I'd prefer a 4 day working week, working the same amount of hours

5 day working week is a pain in the ass, never seem to have enough time to just live a little with 2 days down-time

Doesn't matter how many hours I work I still get paid the same.

I'd love to be able to work a few hours extra every day and get Friday off. I'd do that if I could

I'm only working part time as I'm in college also. Doing 24hours or there abouts every week but would definitely do more if the hours were there. When I was working full time I had no problem working 12 hour days or working Monday to Saturday, I do enjoy my Sunday off though... would take a lot to get me in on a Sunday!
