Nokia Navigation (Here beta) on Samsung smart phones

Nokia have now got their navigation app available for Samsung devices. I used to love using Ovi maps back in the day as it was free and the maps could be stored on the phone. The new app is called Here beta' and is free as well.

I'm not going to link to it as I'm not sure if it's against the rules to link to something that not available on the irish app store yet. A quick Google search will sort you out . As it's in beta testing I would perhaps use it with caution. It might not work on all Samsung phones. The review I saw was off the S5 and I have it working on the Note 2.

You can download the working apk file for Android from here

I have it running on a Sony Z2 and a Nexus 5 without issue. It's okay so far.

As a side note, there is nothing "wrong" or illegal about using these apks on a non-Samsung device. Android is an open source platform, and this app can be sideloaded.

Just as a FYI you can save maps from Google on your phone. It allows you to save maps of up to 50sq km

Just downloaded the app. Offline maps and voice navigation are available in ROI. HERE Maps on Lumia has a lot more feature but this one is good for a beta.

Why is the app requesting permission to send sms?

Possibly so it can send you an activation code or something?

Great, Been waiting for this ever since I left symbian
    Works fine on Sony Z1
You can sync your collections to the here website and sync your old nokia favourites.
@Ted1, Yes you are correct that you can cache a specific area of Google maps for 30 days, but with Nokia you just download the country forever!

Any chance of it coming to iOS? Would love to further reduce my google dependency.
