    They ever release the stats of how many apply from Ireland and how many get it?

    In 2013 there were 11470 applicants from Ireland of which 138 'won' the lottery. (about a 1.1% chance)

    I'm pretty sure that winners go on to the interview stage to determine if they get the visa or not. In Europe there's a 50% chance of getting the visa after completing the interview.

    Only 50%? That seems extremely low compares to anecdotal evidence. Do you have a source for that?

    I got the figure here but it doesn't seem to have a cite.

    edit : of course even if the figure is correct for Europe it could still mean that the Irish figure could be as high as 80% and the Europe stat still be correct.
