Got a new chain.. It has a film of grease on it.. I assume to prevent corrosion whilst packed.
Should I run it through chain cleaner with degreaser and lube or install as is?
    Cheers
    Marty.

I would install but don't depend on its existing coating for more than a couple of spins. Then degrease and re-lube

Use it. I swear I got about 2 months of dry occasional use with an new SRAM chain before I wet lubed it.

The factory "running in oil" usually lasts for ages and is better than most aftermarket lubes

    This,

Way better than cleaning and applying.

Cheers all... Removed old degreased drive train and shortened and installed new.
Seems fine..was just concerned the lube was a grease that would attract dirt
