Fixing leaking pipes under sink

I posted this on DIY, but would like a 2nd opinion from plumbers ...

Pipe under sink in bathroom is leaking around the connector closest to the wall (in the pic).

It seems to have completely dislodged from the pipe against the wall, it seems the pipe coming from the sink is too short (or the one coming from the floor is too short)

Recommendation has been to pick up a "bathroom sink flexi-waste" in Lenehans on Capel St, to replace the u-shape pipe coming out of the sink... would this be sufficient? Do I need to specify a minimum width for the waste pipe?

I got an "extendible" p-trap in Lenehans for €5.95. Sorted.

Was a bit wary that the flexible pipe would have been fit for purpose.
