Hi there,
There is an issue with role permissions that is being worked on at the moment.
If you are having trouble with access or permissions on regional forums please post here to get access: https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058365403/you-do-not-have-permission-for-that#latest

Evaluate the role of the Ombudsman for Public Services

    Ombudsman for Public Services
 Bodies: HSE, Government, Local authorities, An Post
 Recommendations are not legally binding
 One year to make a complaint. Then the ombudsman will make a recommendation
 Must try and solve the problem first then the ombudsman will investigate Last resort.

    Evaluation:
I think that the Ombudsman is effective because:
    It is a free service.
Less intimidating than deal with the government agency yourself.

Another Qs, which I have to answer but I am not sure how much marks go for it:
    5. Outline the role of each of the following in resolving consumer conflict:
    (i) The Financial Services of Ombudsman
(ii) The Consumer Association of Ireland

    Financial Services Ombudsman
Investigates complaints made about services above and makes recommendations
    Banks/Credit Unions
    Building Societies
    Insurance Companies

    The Consumer Association of Ireland
     Voluntary Body
 Information and advice to consumers.
     Helps to solve complaints.
     Protect Consumer Interests.
 Lobbies the government on issues relating to consumers.

Get onto examinations.ie and check the marking scheme for every answer you do. That will tell you exactly how many points you need to make in your answer and also if you need examples and such!

In my opinion, though, I think those answers are fine! Maybe one or two more evaluations for the Ombudsman.
