Amazon - wrong goods received. Can I demand exchange?

I have ordered item X but received item Y. Different product all together. Reason for ordering was the price was amazing compared to anywhere else.
My question is can I demand exchange into what I initially ordered or can Amazon just issue refund and deal dusted? I can not find item I ordered for same price on Amazon any more. Hence I would like exchange and not refund.
Thank you all kindly for help.

Probably can't demand anything if it was a genuine error, I'd probably try to contact their customer support be nice about it, if the price difference isn't completely huge they'll most likely try and help.

Price difference is steep at the moment. That is why I bought the goods - thought was a great deal. Now worried they will just take back the goods, refund the money and I am left where I have started.

if it was sold by amazon, they should just send you the correct item and provide you a return label to return the wrong item free of charge

I hope you are right. Will try to chat to them tomorrow or Sat, will see what happens.

Was it sold by Amazon themselves or by a third party on Amazon marketplace?

If it's a third-party seller then unfortunately they may just simply not have the item any more.

Amazon are usually great with refunds and replacements [seriously, I once had a €2,000 package go missing in the post, couldn't provide any evidence that I hadn't received the thing, and Amazon sent out a replacement immediately, no questions asked], but if the item just isn't available then there's not much they can do.

Bought it via Amazon directly. I did see product with the same name as should have arrived sold by Amazon so fingers crossed.
