Removing a back to wall top fitting toilet seat bolt

I have a back to wall toilet with a loose fitting and the seat keeps sliding around and off its fittings. I've removed the seat and the chrome fixture tops but when I went to take out one of the bolts it just keeps spinning around without loosening. The rubber fixture it bolts into spins around with it and I can't grip it enough to turn the bolt. The other bolt came out fine.

Anyone got any ideas how this can be removed without taking the toilet off the wall?

"Grab it with a vice wrench" is what my Dad shouted when I told him your problem.
That's all he said....hope it helps lol.

Jam something pointy into the plastic wall plug to stop it spinning, and unscrew the screw from it.

You may have to yank it out alright with pliers or other kind of grips, but you may have trouble refitting.

Let us know how you get on.

I eventually got the fixture out. I had to get a screwdriver jam it between the rubber part and the hole in the toilet and then stick it into the bottom of the rubber part t stop it spinning. I then loosed the bolt with a drill and screwdriver bit.

Looks like the bolt and the nut had gotten so stuck together that the rubber holding the bolt wasn't gripping the pan and was just spinning around.

I'll get a replacement part and make sure the nut and bolt are well oiled.

Where there's screwdriver jammed in there's a way then!
