Hi, Can anybody please recommend extra grammar books for Junior cert please?

My son has the class book Fonn but I would like something extra for studying. I bought the Junior cert past exam papers but they are not much help to me as yet.

I suppose really I am looking for notes and essential texts to pass at honours level. I have Irish myself but it a long time since I did any exams and I need to figure out how best to help my son in this subject.

    thanks in advance

I picked up a second-hand copy of this book last year from a generous Boardsie whose children had finally finished secondary school! :)

It's on the book-list for some schools, but that would vary. I like it, and have found it handy for helping people at third level too. The chapters are nicely laid-out with useful questions for practice. I don't know if there's an answer booklet available though, so correcting the extra work might be a learning experience in itself!

I think there's a Transition Year version of that book as well if you want something a bit more basic.

Another option would be to print off pages from the Daltaí.com learner section, but some of those might even be too basic.
