    Hi all,

I have a NAPCO alarm with GEM-K1CA Keypad..

Alarm is suddenly beeping with the error 08 DAYZONE TAMPER.

Zone 8 is not a physical zone in the house.

Anyone now how to fix this...Currently have the Zone 8 Bypassed.
Nothing in the manual refers to this error code..
    Manual says

Day Zone: A zone that will
    cause a visual and audible
indication at the keypad if it
    is in trouble while disarmed.

    Thx for any help

    Ray..

Only way to know If zone 8 is used would be to open the control panel and check. Could be a device tampered using zone 8. Make sure to turn off the mains before opening the control panel. Using your user code will silence any alarm event.

You would be looking for the zones.
If you open the control panel and post a picture we can help you more.
The zone could be used to tamper a device just means say your front door contact, if you take the lid off the sensor it will cause a tamper.

    Ah Ok, I see.....

Might not be for a few days but I will take pics and have a look....

Alarm will sound when I remove the cover but user code should silence this ?

The system uses a mixture of wired and wireless sensors...All the sensors have tampers when you remove the cover from the sensor.
But if I do this I get a E error telling me exactly which zone/sensor is causing the tamper...

I assume I need to look for zone 8 wiring within the control panel..

    Yes to both.
Your user code will silence the alarm.
It may be an internal bell or a device that is causing the issue but only looking at the PCB will give you more information.

    Hiya,
It took a few days but I have good pics of the inside of the unit.

Just a note that when I opened the unit , no Alaram sounded.
Yet the unit tamper is connected ?

I don't have enough post on this forum to post the pics..

Any ideas how to get the pics to you ?

    Ray..

    Hi Ray,

You should of got some indication but since the system has a tamper condition already this might explain it.

I don't think there is a way around posting pictures if you don't have enough posts.

Maybe a mod could help there if you ask.
