Molar (with filling) chipped

I noticed a chip gone out of a molar yesterday, no pain thankfully and only noticed it after I got something between my teeth and my tongue found a sharp edge in the remaining part that wasn't there before.

The tooth was filled and there doesn't appear to be any decay. I'd be inclined to leave well alone it if possible. My only concerns are:

    - is the rest of the tooth compromised or is there a risk that the weakened remainder might fall out / chip further?

    - might food get in between the remainder of the tooth and the now exposed filling to cause infection / decay?

If something needs to be done i'd be inclined to just have it removed.

It is common for teeth with fillings to chip eventually. The chip can be caused by decay or sometimes the tooth weakens and fractures. No need to remove the tooth, usually a new filling will sort it out. Go see a dentists, dont leave it.

    I don't have any professional advice. ;)

A similar thing happened to my molar a few years ago. I left mine, and a couple of months later was in AGONY. Couldn't afford a root canal so I had to get the tooth extracted.

It's still one of my biggest regrets, so get to that dentist!
