Laptop recommendation; video editting software

    Hi folks.

I have come here to pick your assorted brains.

I currently have a 3 year old Toshiba Satellite L650-108 with an i3 processor and a 230GB HDD (I only know this because it says it on it, which should give you a good idea of my technical prowess!). It is running Windows 7.

Up to now most of what I use the laptop for is MS-Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint), a lot of Photoshop, as well as the usual email (Gmail and Hotmail rather than Outlook), Facebook and internet stuff.

My current Toshiba has given me a few issues, such as a full crash at 6 months old deleting everything on it (I had bought it in PC-World (not that that makes a difference), but sending it back for repair under warranty would have lost my files, so I opted instead to get my files recovered to my backup). It's USB drives also failed; only one of the original 3 on it still works.

Recently I have started doing a bit more with videos, and the Toshiba is finding it difficult to cope with the software (Wondershare Video Editor); I only installed it a couple of days ago and I've seen the blue screen of death twice already (I am also looking for recommendations on video editing software; I'll come back to that). Also, the HDD was already bursting at the seams before I started doing videos.

The cameras I am using are a Nikon D5200, a Toshiba Camileo, and the Aldi version of the Go-Pro (The videos are boxing and kickboxing, and that wee unit is surprisingly good) The SD/Micro SD cards I'm using are all Sandisk Extreme Plus 32GB 80m/s.

I am purely amateur at this, and am trying to avoid going in to 4 figure prices (I know that I have to compromise price/spec/size) but I believe that I should be able to get something decent for sub €1,000. I've heard great things about Macs, but I prefer PCs.

I hope that this has enough information for a recommendation.

As for the software, most of the videos are of fights, so I'm looking for something where I can splice from different cameras in sync, somewhat like a director in a studio. The Wondershare software seems to be pretty good for this, and is everyones favourite price.

    Thanks for your time.

    Fey!
