    Hi all
Just a quick question, I had friends over from the UK, they were driving my car for a few days, they were insured to drive it, its taxed and nct'd before anyone asked :)....I got a letter from the guards this week telling me I've been fined 80 and given 3 point for doing 60 in a 50 zone. I was at work at the time so obviously my friends were speeding !!!
Question is should I pay the fine and accept the points on my licence or can I give my friends details to the guards, will they get points on their licence and have to pay the fine ??? More than 1 question there I know...:D

You return the form giving their details, licence no. etc.

Irish points cannot be applied on foreign licences. They will have to pay the fine though.

Basically, it's your responsibility to fill out the form, but not your offence.

I'd say if you do that you are braking the law, as you are falsely agreeing that you were driving, while you were not.

Hmm I think it would be breaking the law if it was the other way around.
OP driving car, get's flashed. Declares someone else with a foreign licence was driving.
I'd never accept it OP - get your friends to hand over the licence details plus the 80e.
