Nissan Primera Not Starting

I have an old 00 Primera 2.0 diesel that is parked up for roughly one year, I generally start it every 6 weeks or so and just let it idle for a while...no insurance on it so can't take it for a drive. Always start on the button first time. But yesterday it would not start, would turn over alright but wouldn't engage. Put a brand new battery in but still wouldn't start. Just wondering what could be the problem, or the best way to diagnose it. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Probably something to do with the fuel supply or fuel pump. There's a priming pump on top of the fuel filter. Push down hard on it with the palm of your hand until it goes firm. There also a fuel stop solenoid that might be corroded at the terminal. It's a thin single wire on top of the fuel pump above where the injector pipes come out. Make sure your getting 12V to it. Are you getting a glow plug light going on and off as usual? Make sure the air filters not blocked(yellow thing in the pic, just a few clips to split the air box open). There the first few things I'd check anyway. Don't require any tools to do either apart from a multimeter.

Black disc on the far right like a bottle cap is the priming pump.n2forp.jpg
