Trying to process payment for a flight with Ryanair and wont take payment even though all is in order with card and I have entered correct numbers, dates etc. When I scroll down through list of reasons I notice one that says 'if you are travelling with people who have same surname you must include Snr, Jnr. We are family of three, husband, wife and adult daughter so would this apply and if so do I put Snr after both our names and Jnr after daughter. I'm not very good at booking flights but must learn.

I think the Jnr/Snr would refer to someone with the same name- e.g if your name is Joe Bloggs and your son is also called Joe Bloggs then you would be Joe Bloggs Snr and him Joe Bloggs Jnr.

Does the wife and daughter have the same forename? If so, you need to differentiate them by using Sr and Jr., it's as simple as that.

I recently bought flights with my Ulster bank debit card no problem. Is there enough funds on the debit card?

Did you contact your bank? There may be a hold on your card or something like that.

I have never had an issue with using a visa debit on the Ryanair site. I would give the bank a ring and see if there is an issue with the card.

I paid for Ryanair flights a few weeks ago with my Visa Debit , had no problems but I do know you have to put in the card number , the expiry date & the last 3 digits on the back of the card ( Cvv number ) once you hit the purchase button you may get another window which is an extra security step set up via your bank ( with Visa ) in which you have 10 letter/numeral pin , which you make up yourself , you ill be asked for 3 of either the digits or letters , you have to enter them correctly and then the payment will process :)

Folks, the OP hasn't come back in more than 24 hours, I think it's pretty obvious that the problem has been sorted - I suspect a 'DOH!' moment happened shortly after (s)he posted here.

I'm having the same damn problem - and there is absolutely no chance of a "doh" moment.

Tried yesterday - and again today - visa debit (ulster bank) - that I've used countless times in the past without issue. However, this time, it simply wont accept it. No issue with what I'm inputting (i.e card numbers, etc) and no issue.

Does anyone have an email address to contact customer service on?

If I can't get this through tomorrow, I'll just go with aer lingus and have done with it. :-(

I had a credit card refused. Card was accepted when I reran the session with Internet Explorer browser a few minutes later.

    New website....same old problems ?

Really - they should have not bothered with the fanfare about customer service this and that. It only adds fuel to the fire when the exact opposite is the case.

old site worked just fine - what is the improvement with the new website from a customers perspective? Furthermore, regardless of browser, I simply can't book a flight.

With regard to the 'online help', its absolutely pants! Firstly, it appears as an option now and then - but go looking for it of your own accord and it is nowhere to be found!
Secondly, there is a waiting period before any web chat starts. Thirdly, when you do get to chat with them, they are about as useful as a chocolate teapot. There is also a 5 second delay between typing in a message and it appearing on the chat.

Go looking for an actual email address - and you won't find one. The same as regards a normal phone number.

They recognised a problem recently and reckoned they set about addressing it. It looks like MoL's paw prints are all over this - time for him to step aside and then follow the easyjet model.

Just to update you all. I tried countless times to book with visa debit and gave up. Eventually used credit card. Have been to Germany and back and will be trying to use Visa debit again for Dec., will probably have the same response. Very annoying.

It's beyond annoying - into absurd territory. At a time when they made a big song and dance about upping 'customer service' (I was never interested in ryanairs customer service!), now it seems a portion of their customer base can't even book a ruddy flight with them!

I booked flights yesterday using my Visa debit card and I had no problems.

Sure - and there are plenty of others who confirm the same (and I was in this category myself with a visa debit card before they 'revamped' their website). Notwithstanding that, clearly a minority of us are having an issue (but it's not our issue per se - nor is it the banks - it's ryanairs!).

I am trying to pay for ryanair flights tonight, it is not accepting debit cards or paypal, a holy nuisance you think, they have their systems working properly.

What bank are you with?, I was booking Ryan air flights recently for a group of eight but it was more than €2000 & ptsb have a debit card limit of €1500 per day or something like that so ended up having to use a credit card, tried doing a booking for 4 then 2 then 2 and card wasn't accepted for the last two, so it may be the banks debit card daily transaction limit not Ryan air, pain in the h0le

I manage to book the flights late last night after many unsuccessful attempts, I used different browser, cleared the cache, nothing worked.

I have come across this problem before maybe the site was extra busy or whatever but yes it is most annoying when it does happen. Mind you I did manage to get two flights for £18.99 each so maybe it was worth the hassle

Having the same problem as everyone here. Tried Chrome & Firefox, different Visa Debit, cleared cache. Still no luck. Very frustrated.

UPDATE: after multiple failed attempts between yesterday morning and posting on this, I gave up and used a Credit Card, which magically went through straight away!?

Keep a close eye on your internet banking - this happened to me twice this year using BOI Visa Debit (not on Ryanair) but purchase failed etc (did not even get requested to put in my verified by visa password) and so made the purchase again - then i got 2 debits on my account which BOI required the vendor to reverse stating it was not their problem!

Very wary of Visa Debit now, use either paypal of credit card and then just transfer the funds from account to card.

Luckily it was early in the month or could easily have been overdrawn with the fees and additional hassle of that!

Have been keeping an eye on it. At one stage it told me it was rejected, went to try again & sent me to a page saying it had been booked, awaiting confirmation. Got an email 2 hours later saying said booking had been cancelled. Unnecessarily stressful!

I booked Ryanair flights recently with Visa debit card, went through no problems, and checked bank account, money has been taken so everything worked with no issues.

had the same problem this Tuesday 8 Sept with an International Maestro debit card (which worked fine last week).
Cleared the cache, the usual, still no joy.
Had to pay with Credit Card in the end.

I used to have occasional problems with this, booking flights ex France using an Irish card. Somewhere along the verification process the post-coden (14? D14? Dublin? Dublin 14? nothing?) was rejected, crashing the whole transaction. I also had problems that seemed to be related to the servers being overloaded and my session remaining "open" till I cleared my RA cookies. Since they've allowed me to store my card details I've had no trouble.
