Address and jobs abroad

    Hi guys,

I've recently started looking for jobs abroad, however most of the time, recruiters don't respond when they see a foreign address. Many people I know found jobs abroad via online platforms. Hence, I'd really appreciate it if you could give me any tips as to how to proceed to find a graduate job abroad (UK, rest of Europe).

    Thank you!

How are you applying so far?

In the same boat. I've applied for a number of jobs in London, which i'm more than qualified for and know if I was living there, I would more likely get at least called for an interview but haven't had any luck so far and I'm hesitant to move over before a job is already sorted.

Thinking of just stating that I'm planning on relocating to the UK in a cover letter or email, don't know if that will suffice.

Same here. I want to state in the address section that I am planning on relocating, but I'm afraid this might hinder my application as recruiters would consider it too much of a hassle when they can simply hire any available candidate in the UK. The UK is also a saturated market and therefore recruiters have plenty of choices to choose from which is the reason why they won't even interview someone who is abroad.

Relocating before landing a job? I thought about it but London is very expensive and I'm not quite sure how long I'm going to last there without a job or how long it's going to take to find one.

So far, I have applied to a couple of schemes and I responded to Guardian, Indeed, Job77 ... ads. Recruiters haven't replied at all.

Thankfully, I can also work in Switzerland or Luxembourg as I speak French but it's still difficult.

Well, if you are applying for the job then surely you would in fact relocate if you got it. So, you should say you are looking to relocate on the CV or cover letter. I've done this and been called for interview in the UK.

You might increase your chances a bit if you look outside of London.
