Hi eveyone , first of all my apology as i think this is not the right place to ask a new question as i am hijacking someone,s thread, actually i am new to here and just signed up today and after spending nora than an hour can,t find where i can ask a new question .
My question is aboit job seeker allowance , i was working full time , in july 2014 my work days reduced to 3 days a week , i applied for job seeker benefit and qualified for a lower rate so i applied for means tested job seeker allowance as i was told by a social welfare office staff , after few weeks i was aproved for job seeker allowance .
Now every week i receive 98 euro cheque stating following ,
    Personal rate 188 euro
    means 90 euro
    entitlement 98 euro
I cant understand that where the 90 euro means comes from, i think they have mistake in calculating my means , i work 21 hours total every week in 3 days and making 181.65 euro , i think my meams should be 72.99 euro instead of 90 euro , according to the formula social welfare use to calculate means .
    181.65-60 ( 3 days work * 20 euro for each day ) = 121.65 * 60 % = 72.99
I am single , no savings or property , no other income, no child , no other state benefit, so realyy can,t understand where the 90 euro means comes , i am 30 years old.
    Any ideas please ?

Did they send you the 13 week form for your employer to fill in?

Yes , they gave me 13 week form and my employer filled that form and I gave back it in doll office .

That calculates your daily rate of pay, averaged over the 13 weeks so then when you work a day its a set rate per day based on the info given on that form. Well that's how it works if your hours and days fluctuate anyway. You can request a statement from them re the calculation of means though.

Is €181.65 your nett or gross figure. SW calculate on Gross figure less prsi.

Thanks very much , I got it now , just one thing more , will my means reduced over the coming weeks as I m only making less money now as compare to few weeks ago when was working full time , or do u need to tell them after few weeks to calculate my means again ?

SW will have calculated a daily rate. So if you work only 1 day pw you will receive more from sw.

Yeah but if one days work is calculated at a higher rate than a days pay will give him (if his hours reduce significantly) and his average days were calculated on long hours then the amount SW give will not compensate the loss.

Yeah you can request a reassessment of means after another 13 weeks afaik. Ask them the time frame to be sure though

If his daily rate of pay has reduced significantly he can apply straight away for a review of his means.

If they reassess now though will it make much difference with only two weeks changed in the previous 13 weeks if that's the time frame they're averaging from? Like his other 11 or so weeks will still be bringing the figure up. Maths was never my strong point :o so don't know if it would!
