Just wondering if anyone else will be importing new 3DS from australia, if so, do they know of any good sites? Neogaf reccomends this one

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/

The console and shipping adds up to 175 euro, might get stung at customs obviously, and xenoblade hopefully, should have it for christmas. Anyone know anywhere better?

Thats handy. Would they have it ready for dispatch for launch day though?

Edit - when I say New 3DS, I mean the New 3DS model, the one with the extra C-stick and what not, not just a new 3DS console :p

Ah right. I was wondering why you were looking to pay so much. :pac:

the New3DS is not out in EU till 2015 ( prob not till around April)
so JbHIFI you best bit if you cant wait for for a system that will play UK/Ireland games releases.

but bear in mind you system warranty will be with Nintendo of australia and will need to sent it back to them in the event something goes wrong with it

you prob be looking about 46 euro import vat + 6-10 euro handling fee from the delivery agent and a custom charge too due the items being over 150 euro. so you could be landed with 70 euro fee to get it released from customs and into your hands

Plenty of folk with family over there.
I'd say there'll be a good few plain parcels making their way, Ireland bound, with Ninty goodness contained within!

Yes I know its not out here till next year, thats why I was asking :roll eyes:

I do have a friend in New Zealand(who also a boards member) who said he'll happily me send me, so I might just wait and see. Looks like it might even work out cheaper than it is here, assuming I don't get done by customs.

I'm looking to do the same, only with a Japanese console (I already have an EU 3DS, so I this way I can get games that only come out in Japan)

Though having trouble finding Japanese retailers who'll ship consoles outside Japan. Places like play-asia are a definite no-go, since they charge a huge markup with no obvious justification: they haven't cleared it through customs for you, so you could still charged customs on top of that.

Anyone any experience with getting Japanese consoles?

Have you tried Solaris, everything comes very well packed and they are understanding about invoices. At the end of the day you will always run the risk of customs though, one of the joys of importing. Don't know what prices you found so far but this doesn't seem too bad, comes in at under 140 delivered. The lads name is Jacob if you want to contact him.

Nice site, I swear if this or the US ones were region free I would dive on one, pains me to think i will be dropping near €20 more on a Pokemon 2DS console at €149.99 in november, but it sure does look purdy.

The Australian ones are PAL, same as ours. I wouldn't be paying for a japanese console so.

I would be interested in the Japanese or US one for the 3DS games though, so many RPGs I could lock myself away and live so many virtual lives, a nutcases dream. :P

I would cry if I only had pal games to play on any console. Turning your back on so many games that never saw the light of day outside ntsc regions, I'm sure the 3ds will be no different. Hoping some day there may be some way of region unlocking the current batch of Nintendo consoles.

There's a way of playing multi-region games on 3DS, but it's not... how you would say... remotely legal

I know someone is Oz who will be back in a month. Is this new one meant to be any good?

Was gonna get it for a Xmas present for the missus, but its not in Europe til the new year. Considering getting it imported now. I wanted it for luigis mansion but if it's not worth the wait, I can just get a normal 3DS

According to the early impressions, its well worth getting.

I'm adamant that I won't pick this up. It just doesn't sit well with me for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on.

Has anyone gone an imported one yet? I'm finding myself tempted but I'd much rather hear from someone who's gone through the effort already :p I've never imported a console before so I don't really know the ups and downs that would be involved, other than the fact the aussie console is PAL.

Well I do have one. But my friend brought it over for me, rather than it being shipped off a website.

Its pretty good. Its not a huge leap up in some terms, like from DS to 3DS, but its faster, the battery is better (although that might just be that the battery on my old 3DS was worn down) and I haven't tried the second stick on a game that would fully utilise it yet, but its good. Its very delicate, so to speak, you don't use it like a proper second stick on a controller or what have you.

For my money, its worth the upgrade.
