    Howyas folks.

Back at the parents place helping about and I spotted a funny growth on one of the Oak trees.

Tree is about ~15 years old.

Anyone identify it? My googling skills are only returning acorns.

I think, Oak Leaf Gall. Caused by the Gall Wasp. Spangle Gall I see their called.

You'd often see the larger round "Oak Apples" too, which are also a gall.

Apologies mods, missed the Forestry section. Posted this on the phone.

I see a few different types of galls in my travels. A smaller marble gall is common near me. Different species of gall wasps are responsible for different galls.
There's lovely looking galls out at the moment on the dog rose bushes. We planted rose through a whitethorn hedge and it's full of them. Also called Robins Pincushion.

My googling skills bring me to 'Silk button spangle galls produced by the silk button spangle gall wasp'
