    Hi,

Does anyone know where to find the colour code for an 05 Mazda 6 saloon ? It's supposed to be inside the drivers door area, but the only sticker there is for the tyre pressures.

    Cheers.

Try glove box or manuals or boot where spare is.

If you can't find it, get the chassis number and bring it to the main dealer, they will be able to get the code for you, and then the paint if you want.

Probably the way to go although I'm surprised that the paint code is not included in a manufacturing details plate in the engine bay.

Mazda6forums.co.uk used to have a colour chart. If not you'll get an answer if you post up a question/pic of the car.

It should be there somewhere. Most companies have a website that will get the colour code for you. I know fordetis is one, all you do is enter the chassis no, mazda have one too I'm sure.

    Edit, Mupetcheck has it.

I had same problem a few years ago with my audi, I rang main dealer, he took my reg and have me the code on the spot .

Actually come to think of it just register there, you put in your colour and it gives you the code for it.

There's a sticker in the boot that will tell you too. Look under the carpet.

I did all that, I ripped the car apart , eventually the guy at paint place came out to me and I thought you watch him find it in seconds , he said its missing, he actually said it should be in boot.

Anyway I rang garage and had it in seconds , all that after ripping car apart for ages. I'd like to pass that info on to my boards pals to save them to same hassle I went through . :0)

Hey lads, thanks very much for all of the replies.

I'll have a look in all those places later, or call Mazda.

So I'm just starting off at this sort of thing, where would you recommend I get the paint mixed up ? I gather Halfords isn't too popular here. City centre would be good.

    Cheers.

How much do you need? Sometimes halfords have pre mixed colour coded cans that cost a tenner, that are a perfect match. If they don't and have to mix your colour, they charge 22 euro to mix a small 300ml can. They also have the touch up pens/brushes.

I rang Mazda in Sandyford, they say they can get if for me. I need a can and a touch up stick. Now I just have to learn how to do it ! Some fairly seriously scratches on the corners courtesy of the childminder.

Thanks again for all your posts.

P.S. If anyone knows a good site for helping me to learn this stuff I'd be glad to hear, and save my lazy arse lots of Googling.

Can you post a picture of the scratches? It depends how deep etc thet are. I recently had a few scratches that I thought would need a respray but used a rubbing compound and plenty elbow grease to blend them in fairly good, better than I expected it to work. This compound is ideally used on an orbital buffer but I don't have one. The guys in the car detailing section will know more and help you I'm sure.

Here's one thread at a quick search but I'm sure there's more.

Some of the scratches are fairly deep, I think I'll have to go the whole hog on it. I want to learn how to do it properly anyway. I'll see if I can get any advice in the Car Detailing Forum after I get the paint.

Incidentally, to get the colour code I just rang Mazda in Sandyford and gave them the reg number, they were able to order the paint it with just that info.

    Cheers.
