If we want top-quality teachers in all of our classes, we have to make sure that teaching is a decent, well-paid profession

My job is to work with the unions, parents, managers and students, to get full
agreement on the reforms we need

Thanks, has a chance to read through today. Enthused to see my colleagues further endorsing a new modern approach to new junior cycle education, assessment and planning that us student centred! :)

I see she left out the teachers who will be delivering the reforms. It also gives the impression that teachers are wrong and all of the above are right.

I would be more enthused that unions are top of her list, teacher unions who represent teachers!

Good to hear out a further endorsement of our profession and the important part it plays as a cog in the educational wheel from the minister! How refreshing to hear students, parents and all players also mentioned :)

By mentioning "managers", she probably meant to refer to the JMB and the organisations that represent managers of ETB-administered schools.

yeah I'm probably being paranoid. it still seems extremely odd not to mention teachers though

Not necessarily. The word "unions" in this context is probably shorthand for "teachers".

Yeah but edchatie happens all the time, only gets attention when the minister is on.

O'Sullivan does deserve credit for doing something that Quinn would never do - and that is engaging with teachers on a public form.

It came across as more of a PR stunt with O'Sullivan issuing platitudes and not really engaging

In fairness, people who might never have been on it before ,joined because the minister was taking part. Hopefully, the newbies will stay.
