Skoda Octavia 2.0 diesel,Need help with part name

Hi guys,i am having a problem with my skoda octavia 2.0,a small moter starts making a noise when i start the car,so i pluged it out to stop it from making the noise,i am unsure of what the part is called,Could someone give me advise on what the part is called,i have unloaded a pic of the part in question.Thanks all

It's not actually. The bit above it is the EGR valve

There are a few different names for the part you have unplugged.It can be called a throttle flap, throttle valve, anti shudder valve, air control valve. Take your pick!

What kind of noise is it making? It is normal for it to make an audible high pitched noise with the ignition on.

They are a troublesome part but when they fail they usually stop making noise altogether and the engine management light comes on.

Its making a noise like the gear teeth are sheared off,a grinding noise,yea when i disconnected it the engine management light comes on,but when it is pluged in it is off.

You can buy EGR blanking kits for less than the valve assembly.

Yes the plastic teeth on the gears sometimes get stripped alright.

Any motor factor can get you one of those. Just be careful you get the right one, there are two types, one has a 4 pin plug and the other has a 5 pin plug.

George can the gear be changed,or does the whole lot have to be changed.What price would they be.Thanks
