Ugly concrete area..what to do??

We have a large concrete area at the back of house (runs length of house) and its starting to crumble in parts on the surface...I would love to replace it with a patio but funds won't allow!! It was put down by my uncle when we built house 10 years ago and while it was ok for the 1st few years it now resembles a old farm yard!! Any ideas to what can be done..I've heard of concrete staining but not sure if that's an option due to the condition of the concrete that's already there..but any advice would be appreciated!!thanks!

Whatever you do, concrete has to be 100% good.
    If not dig out.
Anything else is a waste of money.
    I've been there.

    Nice brick now.
    3rd attempt.

Many thanks!! Part of it is good but 1/3 of it worn away on surface...the hubby doesn't want to dig it up though!! Might have to live with it for another while!

You can't beat the Romans for long lasting roads.

    Unless there gipseys !
