I have to get my diesel from Topaz due to a corporate plan (diesel card) I'm tied in to for work.

However, every time I fill my vehicle, I get a coffee too. When the cashier asks me "is that tea or coffee in there"? I always lie and say tea.

I Rob 29c from Dennis nearly every weekday.

    Up yours DOB.

It's more his proven corruption and private media monopoly people take issue with

politician briber who made his fortune by being awarded a mobile phone network license in dubious circumstances and incestuous relationship with political parties = we must legitimately hate him!

Begrudgery may be a characteristic of the Irish in general but this guy deserves his bad press(except he doesn't get bad press because he litigates against everyone and he controls a considerable part of the Irish media)

we all have a wonderful opportunity to stick it directly to denis and his corrupt patsys in our government by denying the irish water contractors access to install the water meters! we dont need to go far, can nip in and out of the house for tea and biscuits to keep the strength up and have the craic with your neighbours. together we can tell easily denis and co to stick their water meters up their arse!!

    More rubbish.
Any evidence that he is a tax dodger, which in and of itself is a defamation if you cannot substantiate it.
What this country needs are more go-getters like O'Brien, Michael O'Leary etc, and fewer bitter begrudgers who contribute nothing except petty jealousy.

Mr O' Brien is a wonderful man. He adores his mother and spends his spare time looking after abandoned puppies from what I've heard.

Lol at putting him in the same bracket as Michael O' Leary.

    Pathetic piece in the SBP.
"Don't mention the war" never so apt.

I wouldn't blame DOB so much as the politician.Loads of people throw their TD a wedge for their services.Business is supposed to be ruthless.

So you voluntarily add to Denis O'Brien profits every weekday but instead of him making a euro from you he only makes 71c.

    That'll show him!!

The interview that quote is from was in todays Sunday Business Post and it was extremely fawning with no criticism or hard questions. Presumably this was what DOB insisted upon as a condition that he give the interview at all, since he doesn't give many, hardly the actions of a man who "doesn't mind being a target" of media coverage.

You're making an assumption and then claiming it to be true?

When you're in charge of deciding who gets lucrative Government contracts you can't give them to yourself unfortunately or your brother/sister or other family member as it's not far enough removed. In a situation such as this you need a front man. You'll get your cut further down the line. The mafia used to do this I think.

Why do you think a quality newspaper would take such a soft line unless he wanted it that way?

What level of proven fact is acceptable to you when assessing the nature of a secretive plutocrat with a record of using defamation actions to deter media scrutiny and criticism?

Is that the best you can do?

Yeah, DOB stole my parking spot years ago so I created a Boards account to get back at him in the most vicious way imaginable: by pointing out that he may in fact "mind being a target" of media coverage.

Are you a shill or a troll? I can't tell which.

DOB Loves nothing better then to frighten off anyone who dare say mean things about him. To that end, the OP, posters who've replied and indeed just about anyone who's read this thread should be expecting Solicitors letters to arrive in the morning.
