Hi I have a 99 accord which hasn't done an nct since 09. So does this mean I'll have to pay for every year I've missed? Taking into account ncting every year didn't start till 2011. Would I really have to pay 55 x 5 = 275 . Car was lying up as I away

No just backdated to last nct. If its close to next due date, 3 months, it won't be backdated but will be pre done. Ie 15 month nct

NCT is not the same as motor tax.
Just book it in and do the test and you pay the fee for that test. Arrears are only due if you booked tests and did not show up for them.
If it passes, you may only get a cert valid up to the month it would normally be due to be tested.

Unless its within 3 months of test due date. Then u get it until next test year

I think that only applies if the vehicle being tested has a current cert.
I had a similar situation to th O.P. and the new cert issued was only valid to the next normal due date.

Nope... my current nct was for 15 months. I had no nct prior to that for the 9 months. I did however fail it in april and retested in july (as new test again) and it lasted 15 months.

Unless it has been recently changed, we had a car untested for 10 months and when we rang the booking centre they said if it was tested before the next due date I would only get a cert valid until the next due date (2 months), otherwise wait to test it after the next normal due date (12 months no nct) and test it for a full cert, which I did.
