I knew this fella was good, but he has just destroyed Tavoris Cloud in only his SIXTH pro fight!!

Cloud was down 3 times in the first and finished off early in the second.

A former very highly regarded World Amateur champ, he's obviously on the fast track and if this is anything to go by, watch out all you light-heavies.

Cloud is past his best days. I knew he would not beat Beterbiev.

    Completely missing the point.

I felt there was a good chance he'd win also (assuming his stamina is ok, which is still unanswered), but not in the devastating fashion he did. Cloud was IBF champion two fights ago and challenged for the WBC title in his last fight and to beat someone of that stature in the manner which he did in only your SIXTH fight is highly impressive.

Very impressive alright. His power looks to be exceptional.

I'm going to make a bold prediction and say that Beterbiev knocks out Stevenson. Can see it happening in the next year given the promotional situation.

I don't care if Cloud is shot that was still a seriously impressive performance to dismantle him like that.

I get you. It was the manner in which he won. He was a real stand out amateur. Worlds best!

Cloud is only 32, hardly a wizened old sea captain. He's also a tough enough customer and Beterbiev bulled through him like nobody's business. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he made big waves in the division.

I see Beterbiev is 29. Any particular reason he turned pro so late?

He was a stand out amateur, and the Russian's star man in the amateur game for a few years, so he'd of been well looked after to stay amateur. I'd guess he probably thought that he had unfinished business in the amateur game after unexpectedly missing out on a medal at the 08 Olympics (Just as for Kenny Egan some hometown judging didn't help), and held on till the London games.

He was 2 small for Heavyweight in the amateurs imo, but still put up a good showing at both the World Championships & Olympic games, losing to Oleksander Usyk (who's now a beast of a pro at Cruiser) in both. Usyk went on to win gold meals at both events.

Interestingly he's turned pro at the same age as another stand out amateur fighter at Light-Heavyweight did.......Antonio Tarver.

I read today that he beat Usyk in the amateurs as well. He's a big man for LHW, he won't come across many opponents as physically strong as him.

Great example of a guy taking the opportunity to put himself on the map though. It was some statement of intent.

A lot of trash talk between Beterbiev and Kovalev this week. That's one that could be made sooner than you'd think. Beterbiev is in a hurry.

Don't rate this guy highly. Appears to have power but he fought a fighter in Cloud who I used rate decently enough but I think the Hopkins bout sapped all the fight out of him. Never appeared to have the bottle for prizefighting. With regards to Beterbiev, I think he could thrive in the division but feels he's overhyped in comparison to a guy like Usyk who I am fully confident will rule the upper divisions of Boxing in the near future

Some talk about Haymon signing him. I watched his Olympic bout with Usyk recently and I was surprised at how poor his footwork looked. Constantly crossing his feet as he tried to move with Usyk.

Usyk himself is good alright. But I've reservations about his power and naturally we'll have to see how he reacts when a real hitter catches him too.
