Peugeot 308 1.6HDi Opinions Please?

    Friend of mine is in the market for a car and is looking at a 2009 Peugeot 308 1.6 diesel. It's the SW 90BHP model.Price in and around €8k
    What are your opinions of these, having been burned badly by a 1.6 Peug 407 that caused me all sorts of problems, I'm very wary of this engine. Mine was 2005 model so I'm sure there have been changes since then.

    What do you knowledgeable folk think - is it a yea or nay??

    There's an old thread somewhere on maintenance and problems with that 1.6 hdi... Apparently pretty decent if looked after right.. But how sure of that can you be buying second hand... (I'm currently trying to persuade my wife that we should get a 2 litre hdi instead of 1.6 on the grounds that it'll have been under much less pressure in a smallish car...
