Long time poster hanging head in shame so using a throw away account.

I was stopped a few wks ago and told to produce license, insurance and nct. Nct is out but booked.

Anyway I went to station and realised I'd picked up brothers license so produced insurance and nct booking with the full intention of dropping back with my license a few days later as I was heading from the station to work. I clean forgot to go back.

I remembered earlier when I was cleaning car and the insurance was still in there. Its now past the 10 days so I was wondering and worrying what the outcome and penalty is likely to be.

If you produce as quickly as possible with a good excuse you should be alright....

    (I would hope!)

Unless the cop has other intentions! :)

Thanks, Hope so. Gard was being a bit of a tit when he stopped me, said one of the brake lights was to dim so went over car with fine tooth comb but everything else was good so he clearly wasn't happy. He'd followed me for over 4km before he pulled me and said he didn't think I had insurance.

Not gard bashing or blaming him for me forgetting but think unless I'd just caught him on bad day the chances of him saying no bother unlikely :-/

Sounds like the guard was having a bad day. I was stopped last year late at night and breathalysed, licence was checked, and nct and insurance were all fine. The only gripe he had was that my licence was in my bag (handbag, on the seat beside me that is) and wanted to know why I did not keep the driving licence in the car.... that it would be so much faster to produce than retrieving it from my wallet. I just agreed with him, and went on my merry way.
I have met nobody since who thinks that would be a good idea - but ah sure well. I guess it's just annoying for them to stop a car at 1am on a Sunday morning and find the occupant is stone cold sober and law biding!!

Seeing this, it would be remiss of me as an Admin not to mention that registering alternate accounts without prior permission from the Admin team violates the site's rules and could lead to both being banned. I'm on my phone now so I won't be looking but I'd suggest you close one.

Other than telling the Garda that it's none of his business (which would obviously only irritate him more), I'd just tell them that you don't always drive the same car (e.g. partner's/family members cars as well), and that this way you have it with you in all of them. Personally I believe more in the the point behind the first option though ;)

A long time poster who feels the need to tell the internet about every inane happening of their life? I reckon you could draw up a short list alright. Why do people even bother with threads like this.

I mean as a relatively normal person ( i think ) if i mess up in life my initial reaction isn't to tell the internet, is it a cry for attention or what?

That seems to have been a question that was deserving of an answer of "Scot"!

    Scot?..........Scot who???

Scot feck all to do with you!

It really has feck all to do with him how you carry your licence with you. At any time during the day you could be asked to produce ID to identify yourself!

Ha! I love it. To be honest - I knew he was being incredibly petty, but if that's the best power trip he gets is hassling someone over where to keep their licence, then his job is pretty pathetic. Probably nobody failed the breathalyser that night.... awwww :(
