    Hi

I need to change my car and am going to trade in my current petrol car for a diesel car with larger capacity inside. I am currently driving about driving about 500 kms per week on school runs. We have been offered between €6 and €7,000 on our current car and I have a budget of about €8,000 to add to that but don't want to but anything older than 2010 and with no more than 80,000 kms on the clock. We had initially considered a Qashqai but felt it was a bit out of our price range. We then test drove a Peugot 3008 and loved it and have been on the look out since however, are struggling to find one with a decent mileage within our price range on a trade in. We could get a good car in NI but have not been able to sell my car privately. My hubby wants to hold out but with every week the mileage is increasing on my car and I feel holding out may cost us in the long run. My brother has found a Qashqai 2011 with relatively low mileage through a Nissan dealership and they are looking for €11,000 with my own car. Even though the Qashqai is a bit over our budget we could stretch to it. Would love to hear different opinions on both cars. I know the Qashqai is a great car but is it really worth that extra few thousand? Would love to hear what others think on both models. Thanks in advance.

IMO there is no contest between the two choices here.

    Nissan all they way.

Residuals on the Pug are shocking and French build quality is pretty bad.

Test drive them both and you will see.

The Qashqai has a lot of French DNA from Renault too if you go on that logic.

From the outside the Nissan is nicer. The interior of the Peugeot is much nicer. My father is on his second 3008 and can't fault them in any department esp reliability. I would say the Peugeot would have slightly more interior space also making it more practical.

If I had the choice I would hold out for a 3008. If the residuals are that shocking then there should be great value in a 3 year old one.
