    Anyone else doing it?

Last 'competitive' swim of the year for me, had reg'd for the Fjord Swim the week after a while back but it clashes with a family thing and to be honest, lost it's allure once they canned the deep water start.

This looks good though, and the promise of cake is always a winner. I mean, it's a straight line, how hard can it be? :D:eek:

Yep, signed up also, as a reluctant end to a great OW swimming season. I'm hoping it's cold, choppy, and the tide is against us. Hey, its a bit pricier than the usual races, so I want value for money ;)

Signed up to this and looking forward to it. Should be good craic and the longest swim of the season for me, a consolation prize considering I missed out on the DART 10km in Devon.

Doing the Fjord swim too, did it last year and really enjoyed it, it was actually the swim that encouraged me to take part in so many this year but agree the shallow start is a bit of a bummer!

I am in looking forward to it and don't want it to come in equal measures as last sea race of what has been a fantastic open water season. This should be a cracker of a swim though and hopefully won't be too cold :) off for a swim now hopefully no nasty jellyfish lurking around!!

A reluctant ending is right - I've not done a huge amount since the Lough Gill 10k, took a week and half out after it and since then I've only hit the pool 2/3 times. I'm all for the cold & choppy - but I wouldn't be against a less than forceful tide :D

Mad though - this'll be my first time ever, swimming off Killiney. My northsider genes won't know what hit them.

According to their Facebook page there will be a 2 knot following tide, so expect very fast times.

Great conditions today, and indeed there were superfast times with the current. I found the water warmer than expected (although a leaner mate of mine exited shivering).

6.43k on my Garmin, lots of sighting errors. I went very far out after the second bouy, the round object I was heading for turned out to be lobster pot bouys! Personally I found the race bouys very hard to sight- 2km between them is a hefty distance. Think a fair few seemed to swim very far out too- perhaps it was a symptom of swimming into the sun?

Great way to end the season though, its a tough distance to get the pace right!

Fair play Kurt. I didn't go out in the end. Definitely sounds like it was a great swim, weather was super for it.

I'd a weird week in the run-up to Saturday, I'd knocked out a couple of swims but was struggling to shake a lethargic buzz, wasn't enjoying the usual comfort in the swims, felt physically drained. Even the day before I'd normally have that nervous excited thing going on but there was nothing doing.

No change on Saturday morning so I scrapped it, rather than turning out, not really tuned in for it, was the right decision. I'll just have to give it a bash next year!
