Amazon Dublin data centre job

Hi all, I seen some old threads on working for amazon in Dublin but none relating to my field.

I'm wondering does anybody here have any experiences to share about working in amazons data centers in Dublin. I'm a maintenance technician and have been offered a job after 2 phone interviews and an.all day face to face interview.

I currently enjoy where I work however the money and perks being offered ( 10 grand signing on fee, health care, pension , 10 more days holidays, 10 k more basic salary, shares in amazon) seem hard to turn down!

I have heard mixed reviews about the place to work! Because I enjoy my place of employment now I would kick myself if I left and hated amazon! The perks and salary been offered will never come my way in my current job.

Anybody any experience with amazon or any advice on what I should do?

I am aware it's a great position to be in but it's on my mind 24hrs a day.

Like a lot of American companies they will work you hard and expect targets to be met, after that's it's just a case of keeping your head down, doing your job and taking the perks on offer.

  • Those benefits you've mentioned seem way too good to turn down.

That's what I'm thinking! Not many places would offer them these days! But it's a case of being happy in my job at present and being afraid of making a mistake of leaving for money! The only reason I applied was bcoz I applied before I got made permanent in my current position. And just did the interviews to see how I'd get on!

So you're getting a 10K signing on fee and shares in Amazon, all before probation is done.If thats the case I've never heard of anything like it...By the way if it is and you dont mind working 24x7 call out times, take it and all the best, amazing offer :)

I know someone who got hired for a similar role and that was the package they got alright. He is being worked hard but he seems to be happy there (I think he is there around six months now).

I know from people working in a different section though that you are worked very hard indeed and I am aware of couple who have left after around two years to go back to their original companies and jobs.

5k in first months pay and the other 5 split over 12 months in the second year.

There was a program on one of the English channels a few weeks ago where by a reporter went undercover to work in an Amazon warehouse and to see the way he was treated was unbelievably bad, everything was time an motion,it got so bad for the chap he became ill which was work related.
Now you might be lucky in that your a maintenance technician and your work conditions/enviroment might be OK.

Hi Wilson, sorry to drag up an old thread but looking at a job in this field, not the same perks u were offered but still a lot better than current! Did u take the job? How did it work out if so? Good place to work? The job I'm looking at isn't Amazon but a different data center. Thanks!

Hi booster, I ended up staying in my own position as they matched the salary I was going to get on amazon. Love where I work. It’s s data centre too.

Personally I love working in the data centre environment. I had been on sites as an electrician for years beforehand. I know a few guys that are working in amazon now. It’s split in the middle, 4 like it, 4 don’t. Even the ones that like it say they will probably move after 4 years when they can cash in their shares.

There’s loads of work out there for data centres. My advice is get into one and soak up as much knowledge as you can and then you can move to whichever one you like!!

Thanks for that! The job I'm looking at isn't Amazon but is a data center. I'm currently in a field maintenance role in my locallity but I've been here a while and would like to get into a new field (maybe upskill). I previously was in a factory environment and enjoyed it! The application is gone in, now for the waiting game😀 Any tips if I get an interview!?

Ye if you get the shout for an interview send me a pm and I’ll give you some info that will come in handy. Your background seems good so you will have no problems adapting! Best of luck! ðŸ‘ðŸ»
