Hello, I'm a transition year student and I am considering becoming a secondary school teacher but I was wondering if higher level irish is a requirement to be a secondary school teacher (the subjects I would study are history, art and religion). Thank you!

The leaving cert higher level requirement in Irish is only for primary teaching. The teaching council website will inform you of the degree requirements for whatever subjects you want to teach at secondary level.

    Best of luck
