Hi.Just been to my indy and bad news is that I need a gearbox for my 2004 mk5 1.4 golf.It has 150k miles on the clock, so I guess the best option is to go for a second hand box, hopefully can get one with lowish millage. They are looking for one for me. Anyone any idea what sort of money these are new and used?

Reconditioned box is a lot better than just a second hand one. A second hand box could be fecked too or soon after fitting it.

Got the gearbox sorted.Got one in the end from the scrappie which seemed to be in good condition. So far so good, everything going grand.

Now I have the old gearbox in my shed.Would I get anything for this?
Maybe its useful to someone who reconditions them?

Ring a few gearbox specialists. They go often enough and its probably worth something to them to buy it, rebuild it and sell on.
