Could I write my own Affidavit & get it signed by a Solicitor?
For a Solicitor to do it costs over 100euros
Seen lots of templates online to write one

It costs that much for a reason. Nonetheless, there is nothing stopping you from doing what you propose other than common sense. You're talking about a document that's going to be going on record in court.

No its not for court, its for the council to state I don't own any property in any other country

An affidavit is only ever sworn for the purposes of being used in court. Even if that may not be this week or this year. It's sworn evidence of something.

ok but the solicitor I spoke to said if the council had a draft ( which they don't ) then he could just sign it.....wouldn't that be the same thing as me doing it from a template?

What does this relate to because I can't think of any reason why a local authority could be requesting a sworn affidavit? Do you mean revenue?

They might if the OP is trying to get on the housing list and is a non-national or has lived abroad for a period.

    Hi,

I have a question - not sure if it should be asked here but ....

Can a replying affidavit be lodged 2 weeks before callover ?

Is there ever a situation where an affidavit would be considered too late even if a hearing date had not yet been set ?

    Thanks

4 days before the return date is the usual deadline.

Excuse my ignorance but what is a return date ?

    Thanks so much

Is this the same as the call over date if the original hearing date was adjourned by the other party ?

    Thanks

    Yes.

    Awesome !

Now I have weird question about third party enjoinment.

If a third party is successfully enjoined with the proper motions etc & service is carried out but the plaintiff does not issue a new civil bill with the third party listed on it, what happens, if anything at all ?

If this is not spotted until after the callover can anything be done or is it the case that the third party just remains so & the original defendant has to fly solo ?

    Thanks so much

You might be able to get your "affidavit" signed by a Peace Commissioner.

Ok, so this is not an affidavit at all. It's a sworn statement, which they require to be witnessed by a PC/solicitor. The council has no right to seek to procure an affidavit, which is a document peculiar to court.
