when you think of the type of people who post on here, and how we come across, what impression do you get in your head? appearance, personality, lifestyle etc. :)

Generally virgins who cry with loneliness after every frenzied fap while taking their anger out through the medium of online interaction because they're too acrophobic to actually go out and haven't seen another human being since their Auntie Bridies funeral back in 2004 when the 'incident' changed life irreparably.

You learnt all this in your 5895 interactions with aforementioned boardsies over the last 2 years, Yes??

Scared of heights? I thought basement dwelling was the norm.

There isn't one "typical boardsie" but maybe a few different stereotypes you could come up with depending on the forum! The AH'ers, the PI'ers the gamers and so on. Each of those conjure up a typical image for me!

Typical boardsie is something like this weirdo: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?=743264506

    From after hours:

The perpetually outraged: People who like to grandstand post on issues such as the welfare state, feminism, Palestine, smoking dope and whatever hot topic is currently de rigeur for the disenfranchised keyboard warrior. Always accompanied by an air of superiority and they usually multi-quote posts just to prove how right they are. Taking righteous indignation to a new level and also proving that farts can sometimes smell very sweet indeed.

Everyone else: bunch of headbangers, trolls and dweebs trying to get their rocks off with the three chicks (who simultaneously post through multiple accounts) that are in the place.

It seems to draw people who are nice and normal and then change drastically, even losing their sense of decency and compromising their principles, in order to fit in with a particular crowd.

I've narrowed it right down. I reckon they are men, or possibly women, intelligence somewhere between amoeba and Einstein and aged between early teens and early 60s.

Bunch of sad nerds who are no way as assertive in real life as they are from the safety of their keyboards.

    The rest are alright. :)

When will the stereotype of internet people sitting in their basements of their mothers house stop? With technology today you can browse anywhere

All girls. They pretend to be guys and claim that no girls are on the internet.

They also get naked and pillowfight the monitor when in a disagreement.

Letting the community, and themselves, down.

Yeah but some of us love the cold, homely routine of our mothers basements :P

I don't think my image would be the stereotypical nerd living with mammy at 30 and never having had a girlfriend - they would be found elsewhere on the WWW.

My image image is more of a slightly balding man in the 25-40 age group, perhaps a little overweight, who works in an office. For lunch, he joins his friends Sean, Robbie, and Siobhan (who he fancies but hasn't made a move on as Robbie likes her too) in the long queue at O'Briens to pay 5 notes for a mediocre sandwich, which is more bread than anything. He'll buy a packet of Tayto Cheese and onion also, and wash it down with a 500ML bottle of Coca Cola.

Another image I have is of men in their early 30s, who are are at the cutting edge of European finance and work in Germany. They only eat at Michelin starred restaurants and perhaps count Helmut Kohl as a friend. He is a firm member of the jet set and has a Russian wife with the good looks of classic film star.

Lots of people who work in call centres or on the lowest rungs of IT. Questionable choices regarding facial hair. Believe in far-left socialism as it involves taking more money off people with way more income than they have. Plenty of shinnerbots, the online equivalent of the barstool republican in the 70's and 80's. No Wolfe Tones gigs, but the same auld revisionist nonsense as their barstool variety.
