We live in the middle of nowhere and I accept we might have the occasional visitor but I am very careful never to leave food out, rubbish is emptied 3 times a day and all pet food is sealed. We also leave traps down changing the bait every other day. We also have a dog who lets us know quite vocally if something pays a visit. We've had nothing for last 6 mnths.

Now we started to dig up the garden the other day and the mice have decided to move in today alone we've caught 5 of the things. We can't use poison because of the dogs. We live in an old place and have sealed where we thought they were getting in.

Any suggestions for a pet safe poison and/or deterrent would be great.

    Sorted :D

Seriously, though, (but a cat would work)

the pest companies use little cardboard type boxes to put bait in... this protects it from pets. Could you do something like that.

Haha the plan is to get a feral once the garden is sorted cus there's no way the dogs would have a house cat and there is nowhere for one at the moment.

I called rentokil today and they said if one of the dogs picked up a poisoned mouse they might ingest the poison :-/.

I know we wrecked their home but it doesn't mean they can move into mine ;-)

My father had the same problem. He got a young cat. Hilarious to watch it for the first week or so, suddenly darting to the door or towards a press where he heard a noise. Net result after two weeks: no mouse within 100mt of the house.

    Get a small kitten.
Dog will except it that way.
