Leaving the Strawberry Hall this Saturday morning 27th September will be the third annual Blanchardstown Cycling Club (Blanch Wheelies) 100km Hospice Spin (strava route link below).

    http://www.strava.com/routes/987122[/URL]

This route over mostly flattish terrain is designed to provide a relaxed end of season spin for a great cause (St. Francis Hospice, Blanchardstown). There will be a stop for a halfway-ish cuppa at Skryne before returning to the Strawberry Hall for some tea, cake and other well earned eats !

Guests are welcome to join us on the day. We ask that you bring your usual gear for longer spins and that you are fit enough to enjoy a spin of this distance which may not be for everyone !!!!

I attach a link to the Facebook event page at https://www.facebook.com/events/271104916434024/

There is no entry fee for this event, however we would ask that anyone taking part make a donation to the Hospice through the link below. http://www.mycharity.ie/event/blanch_wheelies_charity_cycle_2014/

There will also be a sign on on Saturday morning which will close at 9:30am with the spin to be on the road by 10am. Any non-Cycling Ireland members will need to purchase a one day licence for a fee (no more than €5 - will confirm) which can be purchased at sign on.

Link with directions to the Strawberry Hall attached also http://www.pubsdirect.ie/thestrawberryhall

Do come along, stretch the legs and enjoy this Indian Summer we're having while supporting a great cause.

Keen cyclist no. 1: Oh look, the weather forecast is great for Saturday, and here we are stuck in the big city with nowhere to go. What are we going to do ? Ten laps of the Phoenix Park ???

Keen cyclist no. 2: Well, if we just freewheel down to the Strawberry beds from the Phoenix Park before 9:30 am on Saturday we could get a great spin in the country with those lads and ladies from the Blanch Wheelies - all while supporting a great cause !!!

Keen cyclist no. 1: What a fantastic idea - we can make the most of this weather before it's gone and we need to get the Winter gear out...................I'll see you there !!!!

Sounds like a plan. See plenty of Blanch Wheelies at other events all year round and always good craic!

Brilliant spin, super well organised, great craic. Well done Blanch Wheelies, even the weather was onside.

And a big thanks to Cyclezone in Blanch who gave me a new tyre as I shredded mine on the way over, didn't have any cash and their Visa machine was broken, nice of them to let me drop the money in during the week.

Great spin on Saturday. My first time to do it. Nice pace out to Skryne. Great location for a food stop. Good pace back to the Straw Hall. I managed to stay with the bunch until getting held up a the lights at Laraghcon, at that stage I didn't have energy left to chase back on. Will definitely do again next year.
