I was wondering is the above possible?

Basically I play hurling at home but work away so I train on my own and go home most weekends. My home club plays football but it's not treated very seriously and they generally wouldn't train anyway. I was thinking of joining a football club in the county where I work to train during the week but continue to play hurling at home. I'd reckon I'd get clearance from my home club to do so fairly easily if it was permitted by the GAA itself.

    Thanks.

It's not permitted unfortunately. If your home club plays only one code you can play the other in the same county with a different club, but you can't play the different codes in different counties.

Thanks. Would it matter if the club i wanted to transfer too in Football didn't play hurling?

Sadly not. Having worked as a secretary of a hurling only club mainly populated by players from down the country, the issue came up again and again, where people wanted to play football at home and hurling with us (we have no football). But you can't play in two different counties. You could join the football club you're looking to transfer to, and play hurling then with another club, but only in the same county. Believe me, many many times we had savage players looking to do this, and had to turn them down.

No worries. Thanks for getting back to me.
