tv licence

    Hi
    I have usually gotten letters to the occupant looking for a tv licence to be got for my house, now they have my name so does this mean i have to get one? also i dont have any tv stations. i only use the tv as a computer screen do i still need one?

    Yup. If you have a device that can potentially be used to watch a TV channel then a licence is required.

    thanks suppose i better start buying stamps. do you think they will make me back date it to when they got my name? or worse still to when the last occupant left? im not living there that long. think the house was empty for years.

    You can always go on Disability Allowance and get the Household Benefits Package. Exempt from licence and coming soon - a way to make cash off the water charges (assuming you use little water).
    A little drug dealing / landscape gardening on the side and you'll be winging it.
