New PSU

Hey there,

My PSU is about to kick the bucket. It overheated this afternoon and caused my PC to be unbootable til it cooled down so it is time to get a new one.

I am in the area for a 650w-750w fully modular PSU and my budget is <100 euro. Sweet spot would be around 75 euro but can go that bit higher.

I have not kept up with PSU's at all so thought you guys could give me some pointers.

I am currently using the ocz zt 750w which has a manufacturing fault that causes overheating. I have had it for almost 3 years now so sending it back is a no go.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually had 2 of these in the past and while they are fine they are not fully modular. I am a bit of a stickler for my cable management!

The cables that aren't modular are the power connectors. You have no choice but to connect those.

SOme of the cables have multiple connections on them leading to unused connectors floating around the case as opposed to my current one where each connection is modular

Anyway I did some DIY on the PSU and it is fine now.

I split the wires from the fan and extended it with some low gauge wire I have here and pulled it through a screw hole on the PSU. I then plugged the fan right into a fan header on the motherboard and can now control the fan myself instead of using the busted fan controller on the psu. The PSU should hopefully be okay now.
