Amazon has brought its Kindle Unlimited service to the UK, which launched in the US back in July. The service offers unlimited e-book enjoyment for £7.99 a month, granting access to over 650,000 digital books, as well as thousands of audiobooks from Audible.

There will be Kindle Unlimited logos on eligible titles, which can be read for free by those with an active subscription. It will be £7.99 a month but you can get a free 30 day trial.

Shouldn't be as for Irish based kindle users you can chose to use UK or US sites, most Irish people would probably be on the UK site.

It specifically states in the FAQ that it’s available to customers in Ireland.

I love the idea of this. I assume it will work with my Kindle 4?

I wonder does it have all the Audible titles. If so I'm going to switch my Audible subscription to this

Apologies for trying to be helpful.

Its quite obvious that ALL titles will not be available regardless of format so maybe ask Amazon.

Is this like a rental system?Do books expire after a month or do you own them for good?

is Prime not better value at £79 for the year (though it does seem to be limited to one book at a time).

its just a rental, you have them for a month. otherwise you could have a day where you put a lot of books in your library and stop paying

signed up to this and works fine in Ireland,

Selection is ok, audiobook availability is so so but if you read alot its good value for around 10e a month.

some, not all from what I can see
Audiobooks that are available simply download/become available on the Audible app when you rent the kindle book

    They've gotten back already
Also, I want to bring to your information that, you might not have all the audible books in your Kindle Unlimited plan when compared to that of the contents available in your audible membership. The content availability may differ.

Nice to see their collection is getting bigger but I'll stick with Kobo for now I think.

I'm registered with Amazon US and have already done their Kindle Unlimited free trial. Found a couple of good books but for me the choice was abysmal for the most part and I definitely wouldn't bother with it. I'll be following this thread to see what people think of the UK one.

I had a look at the last 10 books I bought on Kindle and none of them are in the unlimited section now. Don’t think this is for me just yet but it’s an interesting development.

Had a quick look at this and nearly every sports biography that I wanted to read wasn't available, reminds me of Netflicks that way.

I've had a good look at the selection and it's pretty poor at the moment. It definitely isn't worth paying for from my point of view. I'm assuming they'll continue to expand though so I'll hold off on using the free trial for a few months.

I'd agree with the sentiment on the poor selection. Not that there a number of good choices, they are in a sea of mediocrity.

Are there any catches to this FREE trial. Can't see if you need to opt out at or before the 30 days or if its just what it says on the tin. ??

Further to my last post I have found the following under Manage my Kindle.
You will be charged €7.99 from 27th Oct 2014.
It does offer the option to cancel so I guess the idea is to cancel before the 30 days free trial is up.
    Thanks

You can cancel now if you want. The trial will still run for 30 days and it avoids the risk of forgetting to cancel.

I cancelled mine no hassle the day before the trial was up, no hassle. Not sure about the UK selection, but for the US one I found the Giver Quartet by Lois Lowry and the Wayward Pines books good. Very few major authors.
