    What kind of online job is it exactly. Iv spent hours applying for some jobs. Minutes for others.

    Very broad question.
    An application by CV and cover letter takes 5 minutes but if you need to complete an application form it can take half an hour.

    Likely there is also the time to craft the CV for the role in question.

    I mostly use a generic CV and change a few details to make it fit the role I'm applying for. Although most of the roles I'm alloying for are similar.
