ordered, has the old acer e2 duo i got off here a year or so ago, finally kicking th bucket so this will do

I was looking at one of these in a shop and the guy was asking for €200 for it!

Its a nice phone but the size put me off. Its like having a tablet in your hand. Way too impractical for me but like i say, its a nice phone

I got this phone for the wife. It's a lovely phone. Battery life isn't great. Also, it's not dog proof. After 3 days the dog ate it and killed it.

1 star review (also windows 8 sucks)

Its a 'lovely phone' but a 1 star review? Can you elaborate?

Bought the same phone from Amazon 3 weeks ago. Paid about £85 plus shipping. Incredible phone for the price. Highly recommend.

Sorry, I was doing a parody on Amazon reviews where they say it's a great device but give it one star because of something completely unrelated to the product on sale (like their opinion of windows 8)

It's actually a very good phone from what I've seen, and it's a good price too. I spent 130 euros on it only a few weeks ago.

PS get it again on Tmart for the wife.....and buy a bullet for the dog.....Tmart is a one stop shop......;)

going to order one of these but just two questions, does it have expandable storage and have people bought cases for it and if so where? thanks!

Can be extended to 32GB. Cases can be bought on Amazon and I think the white version on Tmart comes with a case - the black one does not specifically state that it does but I do not see why it would not. Might be best to buy it and only order a hard case if it does not come with the phone. But the online unboxing reviews show a hard case included in the box.

I've already ordered another phone. This time I got the Iocean X8 Mini which is a similar specced phone except it has gorilla glass 3, android 4.4 (for a better battery life) and 32gb instead of 16gb ram

it cost £105 stg though so its a good bit more than the cubot (which as a real genuine bargain at less than a hundred euros.)

The black one I got had a case already in the box, but it was rubbish and is probably the reason why the dog ate it (it was a kind of foamy rubbery case that felt good to chew

^ my personal opinion - If you like cases that open up to the side, and have a hole in the middle so you can see the top half of the screen, you might like it.

Click on the drop down arrow key next to where it says 'Ships From: Hong Kong warehouse - €93.68' directly under the price.

    Watching these Cubot threads lately.

Can these phones be rooted & flashed with custom ROM (Cyanogenmod)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 844 ✭✭✭bigboss1986

How does the S208 compare to their ONE phone? The one is a little dearer but is it better?

Thinking of getting one of these in the next couple of days.

Also, can anyone recommend a decent cover as the one supplied looks abit flimsy and the few on amazon don't seem much better!!

Ah Crap, it does too :( Was hoping to get this for my Father. I presume if you order from the Hong Kong site you'll be hit with customs charges?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,799 ✭✭✭✭Akrasia

You can get it from amazon.co.uk for £85 delivered, which works out at about 108 euros. It's a little bit more expensive, but it will arrive faster, and you won't have any customs charges, and if it is faulty, the returns process is much more straightforward

The S208 seems to have pretty decent reviews but the ONE got incredible reviews when it was first released, perfect imitation of the HTC.

AAAGGGHHHH - Ordered & delievered via the standard post for my son

He was setting it up, screen was a bit unresponsive & next thing it cracked across as he was tapping/swiping....just went. It was not dropped or banged, I reckon it could have been damaged in transit as standard post know known for delicate handling. Then as he was tapping it went. Def didn't drop it as I was in the room with him & there is no damage to the rest of the phone.

I emailed them & got the following response:

    Dear Valued Customer,

Thanks for your email, it is our honor to help you.
We are sorry for inconvenience caused.

For this issue, would you like reset it to have a try?

    Have a nice day.

Anyone have any dealing with them and advice on best way to proceed??

Plenty of iphone 4 fones can be purchased second hand now for around 100 euro on donedeal and adverts.ie . Wouldn't waste my time with allot of these "China fones".

Any Iphone 4 devices I've seen still in use with the latest supported iOS version are slow and annoying to use. It may be iOS, or it may be aging hardware, I don't know, but there are plenty of better budget, new options (moto g...) to consider before going this route imo.

Hi I cracked the screen on my cubot and looking for a replacement screen and digitizer for it checked ebay and Amazon but no luck anyone have any ideas?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,476 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Cost of new screen and time to fit it, it probably hardly worth the cost vs price of new phone. I.e mightn't be much of a market for replacement screens

For my Nexus 4, I got a replacement screen for €50* on eBay, and replaced it in about an hour - there are many YouTube guides about replacing screens on an N4.

    * There are cheaper screens/digitisers available, but I was looking for one which was shipping from within Europe to avoid a visit to the customs office.

For the CUBOT, that might be different...

What's this like to take video with and does it have a zoom option also does it support slow motion video?

+1 on this. Wife's sister also cracked her Cubot screen. By the time a new screen and digitizer was fitted and sourced, it was working out the same as a new phone.

Try Alieexpress for replacement screens/digitizers. Customs are a bit of a risk, but you could be lucky too.
