Hi all, am looking about buying my first road bike since school (1980's!)
I have done some limited cycling on a Specialized hybrid, but unfortunately it was stolen back in the summer. So am going second hand. Have roughly 300ish to spend, and would appreciate some input. I have two bikes to view, one is a Specialized Allez which has Shimano 3200 equipment, at approx. 320 euro, and the other is a Boardman Comp with Tiagra on the front mech and 105 at the rear and a carbon fork. This one will cost roughly 280 Euro.

so which would you go for?

The Boardman has a much better spec. 2300 is 8 speed and has been discontinued/superseded by Claris. Tiagra/105 mix is most likely 10spd and I'm assuming the shifters are either tiagra/105 also and so much better than the thumb shifters on 2300. I personally wouldn't even consider the Siecialized with such a low spec groupset.

I have no connection with this poster but i think it is fantastic value:

I thought about it for myself but tbh it is a minor upgrade to my existing bike and I will go for a better one when next I buy.
